The March 1, 2006 amendments to the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule - Accidents On or After November 1, 1996, have introduced some important changes to the way that Insurers may handle claims for statutory accident benefits. Make sure that you are taking FULL advantage of those changes. MCI Medical Assessments has designed a program with the purpose of enabling Ontario automobile insurers to take advantage of the recent changes to the SABS, while meeting the stringent timeframes for scheduling s. 42 examinations. As well, MCI's processes are designed to provide reports from our assessors to insurers on an expedited basis within 48 to 72 hours depending on the type of examination.
Procedure Information: Click here for more info concerning the procedures governing many of the assessments allowed by the SABS. MCI Medical Assessments specializes in the provision of Insurer Examinations under section 42 of the SABS for the 80 - 90% of injured claimants who have sustained uncomplicated soft tissue injuries. We match our assessor with the type of health care professional who was the insured person's "original provider" for the purposes of section 42.1. In most cases this will be a general practitioner. However, it might also be a chiropractor or physiotherapist.
